The Järvensivu public school was founded in 1907 and the wooden schoolhouse was designed by Heikki Tiitola in 1909 in the style of Jugend. The teachers' residence completed two years later was also the work of Tiitola. The red brick expansion building was designed by Kerttu Nuoliala and Seppo Rihlama at the architecture department of the city's construction office in 1956.
