Description

Messukylä Parsonage
(Messukylän pappila)
Tanhuankatu 40

Björklund-Myntti, 1919
Style: Classicism

The classicist main house of the Messukylä Parsonage was constructed in 1919 after the old one was destroyed in a fire in 1918. The new house was designed by the firm Björklund (later Visanti) & Myntti. In connection to the building's main entrance there's a glazed porch, whose wall curves according to a semi-circle. The curving wall part is sectioned by pillars. The ornamental carved details in the window frames and the cross-section of the main façade's triangle subject pertain to classicism. In 1982, the house was renovated and was turned into the offices of the parish. The timber storehouse in the yard is older, since there's been a building there already by the 1870s. New housing has been built on the edges of the yard in 1997-98.
