(Tammerkosken tyttölyseo/Tammerkosken koulu)
Rautatienkatu 3

Magnus Schjerfbeck, 1924
Olavi Suvitie, 1960-65
Style: Classicism

The Tampere Female School began working in 1908 from the lobby of the Classical Lyceum. From there they moved into the Ruuskanen Building for a short while, and from 1909 onwards they were placed into the Durchman House at Koskikatu 5. In 1924, they finally moved into their own school house in Kyttälä, whose design work was given to Magnus Scherfbeck from the construction department. The main mass is essentially a large cube, and is constructed from red-bricked in the classicist style that is fairly simple in its ornamentation. In 1940, the Vyborg female school had to move to Tampere due to the war with the Soviet Union, and worked alongside the Tampere girls' school until 1957. During this time the school was renamed the Tampere 2nd Girls' School. In 1956 the school was appended with a high school and the name changed again to the Tammerkoski Female Lyceum. An expansion section was completed in 1965 with the plans of Olavi Suvitie. In 1978 the school became the Tammerkoski School, and in a 1996 renovation additional spaces was built to the attic.
